Trying to associate with 2wire Homeportal 1800hw resets the modem

Each time I try to connect with a network that uses the 2wire homeportal 1800hw, the router resets itself. (i.e. all leds tunr off and connection from the modem restarts) Every other pc has been able to connect to the same router (though with other drivers windoes/linux) and iwlwifi (4965) has been able to connect to other router (a 3com) the problem seems to exist only between iwlwifi and this particular router (2wire) What info would be helpful?
What's your configuration for the router? i.e. A/B/G/N band? Did you enable anything for example superG mode? Can you see the router with `iwlist scan`? Please also provide the dmesg for the driver and try to see if there is any log in the AP.

The router is 802.11b It is using channel 11, but I have tried others too is superG mode something that I enabled in the module? becuase I did not do any extra configuration there. So it is not enabled that I am aware of iwlist scan does show mine and other networks as does networkmanager's gnome-applet The accesspoint does not keep any kind of log.
Created an attachment (id=1237) [details] output from dmesg after unloading module, cleaning dmesg and loading de module with ./load debug=0x34fff
Hope that info helps.
we are not receiving any association response from AP. Can you run a sniffer like eathreal and sniff the frame between the AP and the pc.

I'm using a thinkpad T61, running the Debian sid kernel at this time, 2.6.23-1. As soon as I try to associate, the router reboots, but other models of APs connect just fine.

I use a 3945 card in Fedora 8, with the iwl3945 and mac80211 modules in the Fedora rawhide kernel 2.6.24-23.rc9. My machine's a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ340 laptop. As soon as the wireless card tries to communicate with the router, the router reboots as others have indicated. (In a public space, this bug is effectively a DOS attack.) But when I boot into Windows on the same machine, association with the router of course works fine. And I haven't yet experienced this problem with any other routers besides the 2Wire.

(In reply to comment #9) > How about the kernel 2.6.25rc2 with iwlwifi-1.2.26 merged in or kernel 2.6.24 > with iwlwifi-1.2.26? I can confirm this problem running kernel 2.6.24. My machine is a Thinkpad x60s running Gentoo. The Gentoo 2.6.24 kernel includes the same iwlwifi version from Linus's 2.6.24. My router is a 2wire HomePortal 1000HW. This model is 802.11b-only, I believe. The 2wire device crashes pretty hard, so there's not much to see in the logs. The only two possibly relevant lines are these: FTL 2008/03/28 23:25:02 EST system: WDRV_DB: FATAL ERROR, Invalid station active rate: 0x00000024 FTL 2008/03/28 23:25:02 EST system: k_fatal: io1 fataled and running I don't see anything informative, but maybe you do.
There is an additional bug report on Launchpad about this. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/222793
Can you retest with latest repos. if you still have a problem please attach a log file until the association timeout and if possible to sniff to capture frame during association process.
